St. Patrick’s Day Events in North Texas
We are heading into the Spring and with that comes warmer weather, Marti Gras, March Madness and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day. While we aren’t technically Irish, as a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Theresa claims it for our whole family! Here are some St. Patrick’s Day Events to consider for you and your family this year in the DFW area:
35th Annual North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park
Friday, March 3, 2017-Sunday, March 5, 2017
Thirty-five years of a passion for the great traditions of Irish culture has made the North Texas Irish Festival one of the largest Celtic cultural celebrations in the country. In 2017, the North Texas Irish Festival celebrates with its largest festival yet, entitled “Texas Grown – Irish Roots,” to acknowledge the Lone Star State’s role in preserving, celebrating and furthering Irish culture in the U.S. Produced annually by an army of music-loving volunteers, the Southwest Celtic Music Association Inc., the North Texas Irish Festival is known for bringing in hundreds of performers from Ireland and all over the world to entertain festival-goers here in North Texas. Mark your calendar for March 3-5, 2017, when a 35th Annual North Texas Irish Festival lights up Fair Park with dining, dancing, music and revelry unlike anything you have yet seen.
Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival
Saturday, March 11, 2017 Starting at 11am – FREE
The Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival, now in its 38th year, is the largest St. Patrick’s parade in the Southwest and one of Dallas’ biggest events. You are likely to spot marching bands, bagpipers, dancers and plenty of green-clad revelers along the 2-mile parade route, which runs south on Greenville Ave., from Blackwell to SMU Blvd. The Dallas Mavericks return as the parade’s presenting sponsor. The parade is free to attend along the parade route. There will be paid stadium bleacher seating available in the Meadow’s Building area. Following the parade, Jimmy Eat World headlines the Dallas Observer Concert at Energy Square.

Kiss Me I’m Irish Express – The Grapevine Vintage Railroad
Friday, March 17, 2017. 7:00pm-9:00pm – Tickets starting at $39
Find luck on the rails during the Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s “Kiss Me I’m Irish Express.” On Friday, March 17, this unique St. Patrick’s Day event will feature festive fun, including green beer, for guests ages 21 and up to commemorate this most Irish of celebrations. Riders will enjoy Irish-style hors d’oeuvres and two craft brews per person. Each rider also receives a souvenir beer mug, all while enjoying the beautiful setting of the historic Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s 1920s-era coaches. Boarding begins at 6:40 p.m. with departure promptly at 7 p.m. and returning at approximately 9 p.m. Tickets are $39 per person and riders must be 21 and older. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

World’s Only St. Paddy’s Pickle Parade and Palooza
Saturday, March 18, 2017. 8:00am-8:00pm – FREE
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Mansfield’s off-the-wall Pickle Parade and Palooza. Runners and walkers can join the Pickle Run (10K, 5K & Kids K) starting at 8 p.m. The Pickle Palooza gets underway at 10 a.m. with a kids’ playground, food court, community stage, marketplace and beer tent (opens at 11 a.m.). The fun continues all day with pickle contests and a pet parade (at noon). Legendary Texas Swing band Asleep at the Wheel headlines the live music line-up with a performance at 6 p.m. At 1 p.m., the World’s Only Pickle Parade steps off with plenty of green pickles, a bevy of Pickle Queens, Elvises and more.
